Are you seriously considering a career in health care?  If so, Champlain Valley AHEC has begun accepting applications for this summer's 2016 MedQuest program! The application itself is to be completed online at www.cvahec.org with  to two (2) recommendation forms submitted by two professionals. The application deadline is March 11, 2016. Incomplete applications will not be considered. This is open to  high school students currently in 10th or 11th grades. The program fee is  $450, and scholarships will be available. Please see Mrs. Hartman or your guidance counselor for any questions regarding the MedQuest program.

Tickets for this year’s Semi Formal dance to be held on Saturday, January 30th from 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm at the St. Albans American Legion will be on sale during lunch periods in Mrs. Larose’s office. The cost of a ticket is $15.00.  Remember that the Semi Formal is only for high school students in grades 9-12.

Please contact Tessa Massett MVU Crossroads & Afterhours Coordinator with any questions. Please make sure to hand in any completed forms. In order to attend our programs we MUST have a   completed registration form.

There will be a Bottle Drive to benefit the 8th Grade Boys' Basketball team at Hometown Sunoco this Saturday, January 23rd, from 8-1. If you wish to have a bottle pick-up at home, please email Coach Thurber at wthurber@fnwsu.org or text "Pick-up time" with your address (and time Saturday) to 802-238-7592.  You may also drop off your bottles any time Friday or Saturday at Sunoco and indicate they are for MVU Basketball.

Students are to report to their TSA as usual for attendance and then will be called to the Trahan Theater on their given day.  They will be accompanied by their teacher but will not return to advisory that day.  TSA will be extended this week from 12:51 - 1:21 each day and period 8/9 classes will run from 1:25 - 2:37.  Please remember that only the invited grade should be visiting the department displays on any one day to avoid crowding.

The annual Knights of Columbus free throw contest will be after school on January 20th for students age 9 through 14.  Criteria: you must have a parent present or shoot and get a parents signature when they pick you up.  You shoot at the age level you were on January 1st.

This week during Period 7 TSA, students in grades 8-11 will have an opportunity to visit with teachers and look at department displays in the Trahan Theater as part of MVU’s class registration process for next year. Each day a different grade will be accompanied by their teachers to the theater where they can have the chance to meet with teachers and learn more about the courses that they can sign up for.

Thursday, January 21st: 10th Grade
Friday, January 22nd: 11th Grade
Students are to report to their TSA as usual for attendance and then will be called to the Trahan Theater on their given day. They will be accompanied by their teacher but will not return to advisory that day. TSA will be extended this week from 12:51 - 1:21 each day and period 8/9 classes will run from 1:25 - 2:37. Please remember that only the invited grade should be visiting the department displays on any one day to avoid crowding.

Freshmen and sophomores interested in helping with the Semi Formal Dance please meet this Thursday and Friday after school from 3:00 - 5:00 pm in the Student Council office.

Any Seniors guys who are interested in being in the Mr. Thunderbird Show, please see Mrs. Gagne.

The spring semester of Introduction to College Studies starts on Tuesday, January 26 at 4:00 at CCV in St. Albans. This is a free college class open to high school students and seats are still available. If interested, see Mrs. Hartman or a guidance counselor to register or you can go to ccv.edu to register independently. If you are thinking of taking college classes, this is a good class to start with.

The annual Knights of Columbus free throw contest will be after school on January 20th for students age 9 through 14. Criteria: you must have a parent present or shoot and get a parents signature when they pick you up. You shoot at the age level you were on January 1st.

Tickets for this year’s Semi Formal dance to be held on Saturday, January 30th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm at the St. Albans American Legion will be on sale during lunch periods in Mrs. Larose’s office. The cost of a ticket is $15.00.

Semi Formal tickets will be sold to MVU students only until January 21st. At that time students may purchase tickets for guests who do not attend MVU as they are available. All guest contracts can be picked up from Mrs. Larose in the high school office and must be completed and returned to her by January 26th, SO PLEASE PLAN AHEAD. Remember that the Semi Formal is only for high school students in grades 9-12.

The Swanton Public Library is looking for volunteers and mentors to help during our upcoming week-long Animation Camp (February 22-27). Come learn to how to use our new equipment on Wednesday, January 13, 6-8 PM - and then join us in February to help campers build puppets and make movies!
