Every night in the United States an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. This October, SoulPancake and Kid President challenge 2 million people to prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating socks, can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless. As part of our participation in the national “Lights on Afterschool” October celebration and in honor of the 10th Anniversary of our Crossroads AfterSchool programs, Crossroads will join Kid President’s challenge to support our neighbors who are homeless during SOCKTOBER. Please help by fill our Sox Box with new pairs of socks (or gloves) to be donated to the Samaritan House in St. Albans. The Sox Box can be found in the Main Lobby during the month of October.
Attention Upward Bound students: there will be a meeting this Friday during TSA in the library. Check in with your TSA teacher then go to the library. Don't forget your pizza orders and any other paperwork that's due.
The Library will be closed on Friday from 9:15 to 11:00 for a Driver's Education presentation.
Powder Puff Football Players are reminded to please hand in any remaining sponsorship money to Mrs. Larose in the High School office by the end of this week.

- MVU is hosting a girls Mini-Metro Basketball Program for girls in grades 7 and 8 that will attend MVU from the towns of Franklin, Highgate, Swanton and the surrounding “sending” towns. For girls interested in joining the MVU competitive Mini-Metro Basketball Program in grades 7 and 8 this late fall & winter, there will be a parent/player organizational meeting and try-out practice at the MVU gymnasium on Sunday, October 4th from 5-7 pm. Mini-Metro is a competitive, developmental league for sending schools in the Champlain Valley region that has games on Sundays from Nov 1st to early February at a variety of Chittenden County schools and St. Albans. The fee to play is approximately $100 for the season and will include a jersey that players can keep for multiple seasons of use. There will be competitive tryouts for this team as this league allows full basketball rules including full-court pressure defenses.
