A Day


The Library will be closed today and tomorrow during Period 3 (9:40-11:02) and during 4th, 5th and 6th lunch (12:06-1:06).

Do you enjoy solving interesting problems and participating in friendly competition? The Math League team will be holding a brief informational meeting today in room E5 at 2:45 PM.  All interested students should attend.  Please contact Mr. MacCormick for more information.

Today in Sports:  
  • JV field hockey team will be travelling to Montpelier.  Team is dismissed at 2:00, bus leaves at 2:15. Game time is 4:30.
  • 7th grade boys & 8th grade girls soccer teams will be hosting Enosburg.  Game time is 4:00.
  • Varsity girls’ golf team will be travelling to West Bolton.  Team is dismissed at 1:15 and depart at 1:30.  Match begins at 3:00.
  • Varsity boys’ golf team will be travelling to Williston.  Team will leave at 8:00, match begins at 10:00.

Education First Travel Group is selling Krispy Kremes ($19/doz) until Friday, September 29th, with delivery on October 3rd & 4th.  Order form in teachers lounge or see Mrs Machia (A-37) or a student traveler!

Attention all NHS members who are interested in attending the Fall Trail Work Day at Jay Peak:  Permission slips and field trip forms are due by Friday, September 29th to either Mr. Napolitano or Mr. Gildemeister.  See an advisor or officer if you have any questions.  The trip is scheduled for Friday, October 6th.

Hurry, don't miss  out on your chance to travel to Eastern Europe during February 2018 break.  The last day to sign up is this Friday, September 29th.  See Mrs. Machia in A-37 (cooking room) if you have any questions.

Middle Student Council Applications are available in the HUB for new members.

The 7th Annual Johnson State College Performing Arts Festival is October 27th from 9:00-5:00.  It is open to all MVU students who are interested in the Performing Arts including Band, Chorus, Theater, Dance and Tech Theater.  If you are interested in attending, please see Mr. Garceau or Mrs. Turner in the Music Room to get a permission slip.

Scholarship opportunity for 9-12th graders.  Voice of Democracy, Patriotic Audio Essay Competition for a grand prize of $30,000, with other potential prizes to include an all expense paid trip to Washington DC.  The theme this year is "American History: Our Hope for the Future".  See Ms Deb Lowe-Murray in guidance office or look for forms in the front lobby.  Deadline for this is Oct 31, 2017.

Seniors who would like to participate in Skit Night please sign up in Ms Dunphy’s office no later than Friday, September 29th.

PSAT  (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test). The PSAT exam will be administered at MVU on Saturday, October 14 to sophomores and juniors.  The College Board automatically screens juniors for the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.   To sign up, students should stop by the guidance office and see Mrs. Greenia.  The cost is $16. The exam starts promptly at 8:00 AM and students need to be at MVU by 7:45 AM.
