A Day

Today in Sports:

• JV & varsity girls’ soccer teams will be travelling to Milton.  Teams are dismissed at 2:15, bus leaves at 2:30.  Game time is 4:00.
• Middle school cross country team will be travelling to St. Albans Town School. Team is dismissed at 2:00, bus leaves at 2:15.  Meet begins at 4:00.
• 7th grade girls’ and 8th grade boys’ soccer teams will be hosting Winooski.

Leonard Parent will be in the commons during lunch on Wednesday handing out Fall Sports pictures.  If anyone owes money please bring it in at that time.   

350 cow dairy farm in Franklin seeking young adults for approximately 2 hours of work in the afternoon, 2-3 days per week.  Ingredients are loaded with a skid steer into a large mixing wagon, weights are measured on scale within the mixer wagon, and all feeding is directed by a feeding software program on a handheld device.  This position is currently open and we are looking to fill it.    If you are interested but inexperienced , this farm is willing to train.  Please see Mrs. Hartman.

On Tues. Oct 24  at 9:00, there will be a representative of Northern Vermont University- Johnson to answer questions and offer information about programs and opportunities offered at their Johnson Vermont campus. If you would like to meet with this representative please stop by the guidance office to be put on the list.

The following college and military visits have been rescheduled:

U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and Northern VT University- Lyndon please listen to daily announcements for the new dates.

On Monday Oct 23 at 9:30, there will be a representative of United States Army here to answer questions and offer information about programs and opportunities offered  through the U.S. Army. If you would like to meet with this representative please stop by the guidance office to be put on the list.

There will be a representative of Colby Sawyer College here on Thurs. Oct 26  at 10:00 to offer information and answer questions about the programs they offer. If you would like to meet with this representative please stop by the guidance office to be put on the list.

Also on Thurs. Oct 26 , there will be a representative of St Lawrence University here at 1:45 to answer questions and offer information about St Lawrence University located in Canton ,NY. If you would like to meet with this representative please stop by the guidance office to be put on the list.

 

There will be a representative of Vermont Technical College here on Monday Oct 30 at 9:00 to offer information and answer questions about programs and opportunities at Vermont Technical College. SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR THE FAFSA Financial Aid Forms Workshop AT MVU - THe new date is Wednesday, October 18 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

We made this change because we recently learned that Governor Phil Scott has proclaimed October as FAFSA Filing Month.  SPECIAL ADDED BONUS: Any senior who completes the FAFSA by Oct. 31 could win a $1,000 scholarship from UVM, the Vermont State Colleges, Sterling College or Southern Vermont College when they enroll.  Please contact Beth Greenia, if you plan to begin/file your FAFSA that night or if you have any questions. The Animal Science class is selling USDA inspected, grain-fed, beef.  Please see Mr. Messier or an AG Science student for pricing and availability.

Please note that PowerSchool will be unavailable from approximately 8:00 AM to noon on Friday, Oct. 20 due to electrical system upgrades.

A reminder to students attending the Johnson State Performing Arts Festival on October 27th that permission slips are due Wednesday, October 18th. Please see Mrs. Turner or Mr. Garceau in the Music Room with any questions.

Attention Middle and High School Students:  Winter sports registration is now open. You can sign up online at www.mvuathletics.org.  Eligibility is based on first quarter grades.  Please be sure your physical is up to date in the nurse’s office.

It's hard to believe but it is that time again!  If you would like to order a beautiful wreath and support the MVU Yearbook please stop by Carol Hakey's office to grab an order form.  Checks should be made payable to MVU Yearbook.

Can you help us raise some dough?  Once again Education First Travel students are selling Krispy Kremes for $10/doz to help them participate in educational programs during their travel in February 2018 to Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Budapest, and Vienna!

Orders are due Monday, October 23rd; delivery is Thursday, October 26th!  Order with a student, in teacher's lounge, or with Mrs Machia in A-37.

The middle school has wrapped up the annual coupon book fundraiser. We encourage you to order anytime in the future by going to www.gaschoolstore.com and search for our school.

Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for October 18th from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and October 19th from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.  High school parents wishing to schedule a time to meet with the teachers can go on to “Pick A Time”. Link will be available on our website. MIddle school parents, please contact your child’s guidance counselor to schedule your meeting.

Scholarship opportunity for 9-12th graders.  Voice of Democracy, Patriotic Audio Essay Competition for a grand prize of $30,000, with other potential prizes to include an all expense paid trip to Washington DC.  The theme this year is "American History: Our Hope for the Future".  See Ms Deb Lowe-Murray in guidance office or look for forms in the front lobby.  Deadline for this is Oct 31, 2017.
