Today in Sports:
- Varsity field hockey team will be travelling to North Country. Team is dismissed at 1:00, bus leaves at 1:15. Game time is 3:45. There is no JV game.
- JV & varsity boys’ soccer teams will be travelling to Spaulding. Teams are dismissed at 1:15, bus leaves at 1:30. Game time is 4:00. JV will play at Spaulding High School, Varsity plays at the Barre Rec Fields.
- Varsity & middle school cross country teams will be travelling to Fairfax. Teams are dismisse at 1:30, bus leaves at 1:45. Meet begins at 3:30.
- Varsity girls golf team will be travelling to Pittsford. Please see your coach for dismissal time.
Attention Middle and High School Students: Winter sports registration is now open. You can sign up online at www.athletics.org. Eligibility is based on first quarter grades. Please be sure your physical is up to date in the nurse’s office.
On Monday Oct. 16 at 9:30, there will be a representative of United States Army here to answer questions and offer information about the different programs offered by the U.S. Army. If you would like to meet with this representative please stop by the guidance office and to be put on the list, and be sure you have a signed permission slip.
There will be a representative of Northern Vermont University-Lyndon here on Tues. Oct. 17th at 12:15 to offer information and answer questions about Northern Vermont University in Lyndon Vermont. If you would like to meet with this representative please stop by the guidance office and to be put on the list.
Attention, seniors in Ms. Douglass's Accelerated World Literature and Mr. Getty's AP English: this morning is the deadline for turning in your field trip forms. Any forms handed in after 1st period will not be permitted to go, no exceptions. Please turn in your completed forms to Mrs. Larose, Mrs. Hakey or Ms Douglass.
Make plans to come to the Middle School Dance this Friday, October 13th. The dance starts at 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Admission is $6.00 or $5.00 if you bring a non-perishable food item.
All high school girls interested in trying out for basketball this upcoming season, there will be an informational meeting today, Tuesday, October 10th after school from 2:45 - 3:15 in room D6. If you’re unable to attend, please stop by D6 to check in with Mr. Coppenrath or email him at tcoppenrath@fnwsu.org.
The middle school has wrapped up the annual coupon book fundraiser. We encourage you to order anytime in the future by going to www.gaschoolstore.com and search for our school.
Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for October 18th from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and October 19th from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. High school parents wishing to schedule a time to meet with the teachers can go on to “Pick A Time” beginning Wednesday, October 4th. Link will be available on our website. MIddle school parents, please contact your child’s guidance counselor to schedule your meeting.
The 7th Annual Johnson State College Performing Arts Festival is October 27th from 9:00-5:00. It is open to all MVU students who are interested in the Performing Arts including Band, Chorus, Theater, Dance and Tech Theater. If you are interested in attending, please see Mr. Garceau or Mrs. Turner in the Music Room to get a permission slip.
Scholarship opportunity for 9-12th graders. Voice of Democracy, Patriotic Audio Essay Competition for a grand prize of $30,000, with other potential prizes to include an all expense paid trip to Washington DC. The theme this year is "American History: Our Hope for the Future". See Ms Deb Lowe-Murray in guidance office or look for forms in the front lobby. Deadline for this is Oct 31, 2017.
PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test). The PSAT exam will be administered at MVU on Saturday, October 14 to sophomores and juniors. The College Board automatically screens juniors for the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. To sign up, students should stop by the guidance office and see Mrs. Greenia. The cost is $16. The exam starts promptly at 8:00 AM and students need to be at MVU by 7:45 AM.
