B DAY


Today in Sports:
  • 7th & 8th grade girls basketball teams will be travelling to Fairfax.  Bus leaves at 3:15.  7th grade plays at 4:30, 8th grade plays at 5:30.

This weekend in Sports:
  • JV & varsity girls’ basketball game against Mt. Abe has been rescheduled to Thursday, February 16th.
  • Varsity indoor track and field team will be competing at Norwich.  Bus leaves at 8:45, meet starts at 10:15.
  • Varsity dance team will be travelling to South Burlington.  Bus leaves at 11:00, competition begins at 1:00.
  • Varsity cheer team will be travelling to Mill River.  Bus leaves at 7:50, competition begins at 12:00.
  • JV & varsity boys’ basketball teams will be travelling to Fairfax.  Bus leaves at 12:45.  JV plays at 2:00, varsity plays at 3:30.
  • Varsity girls’ ice hockey team will be travelling to Cairns to play Rice.  Bus leaves at 4:00, game time is 6:00.
  • Varsity boys’ ice hockey team will be hosting Burr & Burton.  Game time is 7:00.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS PLEASE TAKE NOTE -  Please return your computer to the cart before going to lunch. Computers are not allowed in the commons during lunch time.

The STEM fair awards assembly will be held on Monday 1/30/17 during TSA time. This will be for any students who participated in the MVU STEM fair last Thursday night.

The Library will be closed all day on Tuesday.

Seniors check your email or see an art teacher regarding The Emerging Artist Scholarship.

Our informational travel meeting has been rescheduled to next Tuesday, January 31, 7:00 pm in Room A-33 at MVUHS (sewing room)!  Contact Vikki Machia if you have any questions; otherwise, hope to see you there!

A reminder to any high school student who is bringing an outside guest to the Semi Formal that your “guest forms” are due to Mrs. Larose no later than Monday, January 30th.  There are still tickets available.  You can purchase them in Mrs. Larose’s office during lunch.  Cost is $15.00.

Attention all graduating seniors: Are you interested in pursuing the arts after you graduate?  If so make sure you apply for the 2017 Swanton Arts Council Emerging Artist Award.  Applications and Artwork are due Friday February 24th.   See your art teacher for an application or go online to http://tinyurl.com/sac2017scholarship.

Please join the Class of 2018 in welcoming Spidey the Mentalist/Hypnotist on January 27th at 7:00 pm here at MVU.  You can buy your tickets from Erica Benoit, Roland Laroche or a member of the class of 2018.  Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door.  Food and drinks will be available.  All proceeds go to the Senior banquet.  Any questions, see Erica, Roland or a member of the class of ‘18.

On Tues. Jan 31 @ 9:30 there will be a representative of the United States Air Force here. Please let Mrs Greenia or your guidance counselor know if you would like a pass to attend.

University of Vermont Children’s Hospital Fundraiser Marvel Studios V. DC Comics January 3rd- January 31st.  Vote for your favorite superhero!! - (Donate money into their container during lunch periods). A mural of the superhero with the largest donation total will be painted on a school wall! (Along with their company logo and The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital logo).  All proceeds will be donated to The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital. Totals for all superheros will be recorded weekly and displayed in commons. THE WINNER AND FINAL TOTALS WILL BE ANNOUNCED BY FEBRUARY 10TH. If you would like to donate, but cannot during lunch periods, OR if you have any questions regarding the fundraiser please contact Mr. Dennis Hill (Principal) or Megan Czuchrey (Sophomore). Thank you for donating!

Students in grades 10 or 11 interested in occupations in Health Care are eligible to apply for this summer's MedQuest.  This program  Introduce students to the variety of healthcare careers while giving the experience of campus life at UVM.  There are three different programs:   Therapeutic Services-June 19-22: Students will explore healthcare occupations focused primarily on changing the health status of patients over time. Diagnostic Services-June 26-29: Students will explore healthcare occupations related to the testing and evaluations that aid in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease, injuries or other physical conditions. Counseling and Mental Health Services- July 10-13: Students will explore health care occupations that assist people with mental health related issues and diseases.  Admission is competitive and scholarships are available.  More detailed descriptions of each session, and the application is available on our website at this link: http://www.cvahec.org/programs/high-school-student/med-quest/ or students can view the information on the mvuschool.org website, see Mrs. Hartman or a guidance counselor.  The application deadline is 11:59 p.m., March 10th, 2017.
