B DAY
Today in Sports:
- JV & varsity boys’ basketball teams will be hosting Milton. JV plays at 5:30, varsity plays at 7:00.
Weekend in Sports:
- Varsity Cheer team will be travelling to Rutland. Bus leaves at 10:00, competition begins at 1:00.
- Varsity Dance team will be travelling to BFA. Bus leaves at 9:15, competition begins at 1:00.
- JV & varsity girls’ basketball teams will be hosting Middlebury. JV plays at 12:00, varsity plays at 1:30.
- Varsity boys’ ice hockey team will be hosting Mt. Mansfield. Game time is 2:00.
- 7th & 8th grade boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will be hosting Colchester. 7th grade girls play at 3:30, 8th grade girls play at 4:30, 7th grade boys play at 5:45, 8th grade boys play at 6:45.

Attention all Faculty, Staff and High School Students: Intramural Volleyball signups are in the high school office. Games will be played after school from March 8th through March 16th from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Tournament will be on March 17th. Last day to sign up is Thursday, February 23rd at 12:00 pm. Teams will be posted on Friday, February 24th. Eligibility will be based on 2nd quarter grades.
SAC 2nd Annual Youth Art Show Opening Reception is Friday March 10th at 6:00 pm-8:30 pm at the Swanton Village Complex. Exhibit hours are Saturday March 11th at 11am-2pm. The SAC Emerging Artist Award Winner will be announced at the opening reception. All Art submission are welcome until February 24th deadline. Share your Creativity!
On Tuesday, February, 14th @ 9:30, there will be a representative of the United States Air Force here to talk about career opportunities in the Air Force. If you are interested , or have questions and would like to attend this meeting, please see Mrs Greenia or your guidance counselor for a pass.

A reminder to all students taking AP classes: the AP Exam Pre-Registration Form, along with your deposit(s), is due to the guidance office no later than Tuesday, February 21st.
Are you interested in quitting smoking??? If so...please join our group NOT (Not on Tobacco). NOT is a 10-week quitting smoking program designed to help support teens in their efforts to quit using tobacco. Students meet once a week for 50 minutes with a trained facilitator. Topics include: motivation, stress management, the effects of smoking, preparing to quit, relapse prevention, dealing with peer pressure, support networks and healthy lifestyles. Sessions will be held every Monday, starting March 13-May 22. If you are interested, please see your guidance counselor, Mr. Corey, Mrs. Walsh or the school nurse.
The Class of 2020 (freshman) will be meeting on February 17th during TSA in the theater.

The field studies program is a registered "big change roundup posse", and our student "bandits" would like to visit TSAs to collect change for the UVM medical center children's hospital. The TSA who donates the most to the children's hospital will be awarded with a Pizza Party. Field studies bandits will visit Commons during lunch periods, and TSAs to drop off donation jars. Bandits will pick up the donation jars on three alternating Fridays (February 10, February 24, and March 10).
Attention all graduating seniors: Are you interested in pursuing the arts after you graduate? If so make sure you apply for the 2017 Swanton Arts Council Emerging Artist Award. Applications and Artwork are due Friday February 24th. See your art teacher for an application or go online to http://tinyurl.com/sac2017scholarship.
Students in grades 10 or 11 interested in occupations in Health Care are eligible to apply for this summer's MedQuest. This program Introduce students to the variety of healthcare careers while giving the experience of campus life at UVM. There are three different programs: Therapeutic Services-June 19-22: Students will explore healthcare occupations focused primarily on changing the health status of patients over time. Diagnostic Services-June 26-29: Students will explore healthcare occupations related to the testing and evaluations that aid in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease, injuries or other physical conditions. Counseling and Mental Health Services- July 10-13: Students will explore health care occupations that assist people with mental health related issues and diseases. Admission is competitive and scholarships are available. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m., March 10th, 2017.
