B DAY

Today in Sports:

• Spring sports signups are now open for both middle and high school athletes. Please log on mvuathletics.org and click “register”.  Any questions, please see Mr. Lumsden or Mrs. Larose in the high school office.  All athletes must have an updated physical on file every two years.  Eligibility will be based on 2nd quarter grades.

• Middle School Sports Awards has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:00 pm in the MVU Commons.   
• 8th grade boys’ basketball team will be travelling to Colchester.  Team is dismissed at 2:15, bus leaves at 2:30 for a 3:45 game time.   

This Weekend in Sports:

• The varsity dance and cheer team will be competing in the State tournament in Vergennes.  Dance team will leave at 9:30, competition begins at 12:00.  Cheer team will leave at 2:30, competition begins at 5:00.
• Varsity girls’ ice hockey team will be travelling to Stowe (Jackson Arena).  Bus leaves at 2:00 for a 4:30 game time.
• JV and varsity boys’ basketball teams will be hosting Middlebury.  JV plays at 12:00, varsity plays at 1:30.
• Varsity boys’ ice hockey team will be hosting Harwood.  Game time is 7:00.

Upward Bound applications are due February 24.  You can mail your application to the Upward Bound office, bring it to guidance, or give it to Ms. Poulin in room D9 or Ms. Miller in D8.

The Class of 2020 (freshman) will be meeting today, February 17th during TSA in the theater.

Baseball open gyms will run from 9:00-11:00 AM starting this Sunday the 19th in the gym.  Open gyms will continue each Sunday at this time until March 12th.  Baseball players in grades 7-12 are welcomed to attend.  Please e-mail Coach Sargent at mvubaseball@gmail.com or message our Facebook page at Friends of MVU Baseball with questions.

Attention all Faculty, Staff and High School Students:  Intramural Volleyball signups are in the high school office.  Games will be played after school from March 8th through March 16th from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Tournament will be on March 17th.  Last day to sign up is Thursday, February 23rd at 12:00 pm.  Teams will be posted on Friday, February 24th.   Eligibility will be based on 2nd quarter grades.  

SAC 2nd Annual Youth Art Show Opening Reception is Friday March 10th at 6:00 pm-8:30 pm at the Swanton Village Complex.  Exhibit hours are Saturday March 11th at 11am-2pm.  The SAC Emerging Artist Award Winner will be announced at the opening reception.  All Art submission are welcome until February 24th deadline. Share your Creativity!

A reminder to all students taking AP classes: the AP Exam Pre-Registration Form, along with your deposit(s), is due to the guidance office no later than Tuesday, February 21st.

Students in grades 10 or 11 interested in occupations in Health Care are eligible to apply for this summer's MedQuest.  This program  Introduce students to the variety of healthcare careers while giving the experience of campus life at UVM.  There are three different programs:   Therapeutic Services-June 19-22: Students will explore healthcare occupations focused primarily on changing the health status of patients over time. Diagnostic Services-June 26-29: Students will explore healthcare occupations related to the testing and evaluations that aid in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease, injuries or other physical conditions. Counseling and Mental Health Services- July 10-13: Students will explore health care occupations that assist people with mental health related issues and diseases.  Admission is competitive and scholarships are available.  More detailed descriptions of each session, and the application is available on our website at this link: http://www.cvahec.org/programs/high-school-student/med-quest/ or students can view the information on the mvuschool.org website, see Mrs. Hartman or a guidance counselor.  The application deadline is 11:59 p.m., March 10th, 2017.
