Today’s Lunch: Light lunch offered
- Testing today: Period 1/2 B and period 3/4 B. Students are dismissed at 11:45 am. Testing tomorrow: Period 5/6 A and period 8/9 A.
- The spring semester of Introduction to College Studies starts on Tuesday, January 26 at 4:00 at CCV in St. Albans. This is a free college class open to high school students and seats are still available. If interested, see Mrs. Hartman or a guidance counselor to register or you can go to ccv.edu to register independently. If you are thinking of taking college classes, this is a good class to start with.
- The annual Knights of Columbus free throw contest will be after school on January 20th for students age 9 through 14. Criteria: you must have a parent present or shoot and get a parents signature when they pick you up. You shoot at the age level you were on January 1st.
- Tickets for this year’s Semi Formal dance to be held on Saturday, January 30th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm at the St. Albans American Legion will go on sale beginning tomorrow in the high school office with Mrs. Larose. The cost of a ticket is $15.00.
- Semi Formal tickets will be sold to MVU students only until January 21st. At that time students may purchase tickets for guests who do not attend MVU as they are available. All guest contracts can be picked up from Mrs. Larose in the high school office and must be completed and returned to her by January 26th, SO PLEASE PLAN AHEAD. Remember that the Semi Formal is only for high school students in grades 9-12.
- It is still not too late to sign up for “The Grand Tour of Italy 2017”! Sign up by February 15th and save $100 ($200 if a former “EF” traveler). All students 7-12 and adults are welcome to join us. Next meeting Tuesday, January 26th 7:00 pm in the Highgate Elementary School Library. Information packets available on table in the front lobby or check it out at eftours.com/1807779MN!
- The Swanton Public Library is looking for volunteers and mentors to help during our upcoming week-long Animation Camp (February 22-27). Come learn to how to use our new equipment on Wednesday, January 13, 6-8 PM - and then join us in February to help campers build puppets and make movies! Everything from claymation (remember Wallace & Gromit?) to Legos and light boards. For more info, contact Caleb Rupp at 868-7656 or crupp@swantonlibrary.org.
- CVAHEC is pleased to announce that we will be holding A Day in the Life (ADL) at the Franklin County Home Health Center (FCHHA) on March 16, 2016. Students will have an opportunity to shadow various health care workers in the community, learn about what the FCHHA does, as well as obtain training on infection control, confidentiality, and advanced directives. CVAHEC will start accepting applications on their website on January 19th and provide you with more information soon. Please keep watch on their Facebook page, Champlain Valley Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
- MVU Crossroads & AfterHours Winter Flyers are available and students have this week to sign up. Winter Session starts Tuesday January 19th. Flyers available at front office and with TSA's & the HUB.. Please contact Tessa Massett MVU Crossroads & Afterhours Coordinator with any questions. Please hand in any completed registration forms!!
- Highgate Sports Arena is back in the Hockeyville Competition for 2016. The nomination phase is now through March 11, 2016. Please log on to www.krafthockeyville.com, select “nominate my rink”, search for Highgate Sports Arena. Write up your story, statement or memories, whatever you would like, showing why Highgate Sports Arena deserves to be the next Hockeyville. Give it a title and submit photos. We were a “Top 10 Hockey Community in 2015”, let’s do it again and raise more $$$ for future renovations and improvements.
