High School Announcements
Today’s Lunch Special: Taco Tuesday: Seasoned Beef on Crunchy Corn Shells, Lettuce, Tomato, Cheese, Sour Cream, Salsa, Black Bean & Corn Salad, Fresh Fruit.
Tuesday’s Lunch Special: Homemade Cheesy Lasagna, Fresh Tossed Salad, Steamed Green Beans, Wheat Roll, Fresh Fruit.
- The Varsity Girls’ Soccer team will be heading to Burr & Burton today for a playdown game. Team is dismissed at 9:45, bus leaves at 10:00 for a 3:00 game time.
- The Varsity Field Hockey team will be playing against Milton in the quarterfinals here at MVU on Thursday, October 22nd at 3:45 pm.
- The FFA will be selling Apple Cider which will be pressed in the Agriculture Building, and sold by the quarts in Commons during the lunch periods from now until Friday, October 30th.
- The FFA will also be having their Annual Citrus Sale. If you would like to place an order, please see one of our FFA members or Mr. Wilde.
- It is confirmed that picture retakes will take place on Friday, October 23rd from 7:45AM to 9:00AM on the Theater stage. There is a $5.00 charge for retakes and the original photos must be returned. I will have a sign up sheet up front.
- The National Arts Honor Society will be holding a Painted Pumpkin Sale to raise money for the chapter on October 22 and 23rd during all lunch periods.(Thursday and Friday of this week). The group spent this past Saturday creating and painting their masterpieces! Prices are as follows: ( Mini Pumpkins - $4.00 ea) (Small/Med Pumpkins: Spider Web Design -$5.00 ea and Mummy Mini Set, Owl, Zebra Print - $10.00) (Large Pumpkins - $15.00 Globe, Witch, Monster’s Inc, Dracula, Frankenstein, Funny Face, Pumpkin-Ception) (Extra Large Pumpkin - $20.00 Nightmare Before Christmas Theme).
Middle School Announcements
- Choral concert at 6:30 today in the theater.
- Band concert at 6:30 on Wednesday, October 21st.
Halloween costume contest for students, teachers & staff Friday, October 30th
Prizes awarded for the scariest, funniest, school spirit & most original!

- There will be a short math league meeting after school today, Tuesday, October 20th in E3 for all math league participants. Please bring your signed permission slips with you.
- High school student ID’s can be picked up in Mrs. Larose’s office during lunch periods only.
- There is Open Gym for boys basketball grades 7-12 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 pm to 8:30pm.
- There will be a pre-season informational meeting on November 22nd, 6pm for students and parents about joining the MVU Dance team. A pre-season program will be announced, as well as an overview of the season. A 2-day dance camp is being offered, October 31st-Nov. 1st, that all members are encouraged to attend, a fun opportunity to learn proper dance technique and form with area dancers. - Fall Dance Clinic offered October 31-November 1st at Mount Mansfield High School, presented by the UDA (Universal Dance Company) for Vermont Dance Teams. MVU team members are encouraged to attend as it is an amazing opportunity to learn proper dance form and technique and have fun with other area dancers, only $65 including for both days! - The Yearbook Committee is selling Christmas wreaths. Students will be coming around to see you or you can pick up an order form in Mrs. Hakey’s office.
- October is Socktober. Socks are the least donated items to homeless shelters. Please join Crossroads, AfterHours and YouTube icon, Kid President by making your donation in the Front Lobby by Friday, October 30th.
- Winter sports signups are now open for both middle and high school athletes. Please log on mvuathletics.org and click “register”. Any questions, please see Mr. Lumsden or Mrs. Larose in the high school office. Middle school cheerleaders please note that you should sign-up under high school.
- Every night in the United States an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. This October, SoulPancake and Kid President challenge 2 million people to prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating socks, can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless. As part of our participation in the national “Lights on Afterschool” October celebration and in honor of the 10th Anniversary of our Crossroads AfterSchool programs, Crossroads will join Kid President’s challenge to support our neighbors who are homeless during SOCKTOBER. Please help by fill our Sox Box with new pairs of socks (or gloves) to be donated to the Samaritan House in St. Albans. The Sox Box can be found in the Main Lobby during the month of October.
