Ongoing Announcements
- It has been brought to our attention that food has been being brought into classrooms during the first weeks of the school year. Even with the best of intentions, such as birthdays and other special events, it is important to remember that there is to be no outside food or drink brought into school except for bag lunches from home. Because of the increased number of students with food related allergies and the disruption that it causes to the school day there should also be no food deliveries from area fast food and pizza shops. They have been contacted, but would also ask that teachers and students refrain from calling them.
- Every night in the United States an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. This October, SoulPancake and Kid President challenge 2 million people to prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating socks, can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless. As part of our participation in the national “Lights on Afterschool” October celebration and in honor of the 10th Anniversary of our Crossroads AfterSchool programs, Crossroads will join Kid President’s challenge to support our neighbors who are homeless during SOCKTOBER. Please help by fill our Sox Box with new pairs of socks (or gloves) to be donated to the Samaritan House in St. Albans. The Sox Box can be found in the Main Lobby during the month of October.
